There are a number of popular prompts and challenges being issued all the time on Medium (particularly during specific holidays and events), and they are a good way of sharing each other’s work and getting to know our fellow Medium writers.

10-word or micro-story challenges are just one of these that seem to be proving very popular. This particular one for Valentine’s Day was issued by Shereen Bingham and I was later tagged by Carolyn Hastings.

The following micro-stories, and poems, are my response.

Micro- Stories

Story One:

He gave her roses, but she saw thorns, not blooms.

Story Two:

The pretty heart-shaped box contained only heartache and tears.

Story Three:

She always loved Valentine’s Day. She owned a chocolate shop.

Story Four:

Your heart is in my hands,” said the cardiac surgeon.

Story Five:

If we could grow chocolate flowers life would be perfect.
