I just wanted to return to living in a normal household, or a quiet cabin in the woods with Charlie and Lucky, even better.
Hotel rooms sucked, constantly on edge because I didn’t know where the trial was heading. I hoped the jury would reach their verdict quickly — whichever way they went.
My contemplation was interrupted by Graham, my assigned guardian angel.
“Jack, I obtained footage from a CCTV camera where we were almost run down. It captured the car’s plate number. Guess who it belongs to?”
“Who?” I asked, expectantly.
“A part-owner of our favourite celebrity chef’s restaurant!”
