A very touching poem, Theodore. A wonderful read.

…and broke 
 the perfection of marble, 
 groped at it with unworthy hands.
 
 What have you done?
 
 You have taught yourself not to cry.
 You teach me not to cry.
 We stare out the window, the darkness
 seems eternal, like death.
 We listen to the wind howl 
 outside with the despair of our dying ghosts.
 
 I did know. I didn’t know I had forced you
 to harden into marble.
