Random word drabble 129: “earnest”

It wouldn’t be wrong to call Charlie an earnest man. He did have a sense of humour but it was very dry and many didn’t find it funny. Life was serious, and if you didn’t treat it that way you’d soon be let down.

He made the most of being in town, and decided to order food from one of those delivery apps. He couldn’t do that at home. It was a surprise to see listed a restaurant owned by the convicted murderer Jamie Ramsey. Of course, being Charlie, he ordered from there.

Thirty minutes passed … then Knock knock!

What is a Drabble?

Most flash fiction is identified as stories under 1000 words. Many short-form publications require you to stay under 150 words. A drabble is a short fiction story of exactly 100 words.

I find drabbles to be an excellent exercise in keeping your writing tight because it forces you to discard any unnecessary words.
