Random word drabble 116: “slight”

I hoped Charlie would take my reference to the nickname “Chuck” as a joke, and not a slight.

“If my surname was “Norris” you’d be most welcome to call me that, but as it isn’t I suggest that you avoid that temptation. Otherwise, I will have to find you a jar.”

What would I want a jar for?”

“Oh, to put all your teeth in, after you pick them up off the floor.”

The serious look on his face, said, “Refrain from mentioning that nickname again.” Despite his age, I was sure Charlie was not one to be messing with.

What is a Drabble?

Most flash fiction is identified as stories under 1000 words. Many short-form publications require you to stay under 150 words. A drabble is a short fiction story of exactly 100 words.

I find drabbles to be an excellent exercise in keeping your writing tight because it forces you to discard any unnecessary words.
