Random Word Drabble #195: “Family”: July 13th 2024 — (drabble and a half)
“Charlie, you and Lucky have been like family to me, but I don’t really know anything about you. How do you know so much about everything?”
“The less you know the better, Jack. But I have been protecting you, even during the trial. Who do you think arranged for the new evidence to be accepted that got Ramsay found guilty?”
“But why, Charlie? How did it even concern you? My encounter with Ramsay happened before I met you.”
“Long story short — the chef and I had previous dealings, and I felt him being charged with murder would be fitting justice.”
“But how do you have so much influence, and know all the details about the murders you wrote about in your book?”
“Didn’t I tell you that before I retired I was a police detective? Oh, and that evidence they found in Ramsay’s apartment — it was your gym membership card!”
