Having obtained the information he was seeking, Charlie checked out of the motel, put the necessary gallons of fuel into his pickup to get him home, and left the city.
He wondered if Jack was finished with his manuscript yet, because he had a few details to add to the last story. Once that was done, he would arrange a conference call with his publisher to advise completion and email them the draft.
It was late afternoon when he arrived back at the forest road, waves of pink and orange spread across the horizon ahead of him as he drove.
