I confronted Charlie. “I read the changes you added to the last chapter of your book!”

Charlie just shrugged, unconcerned.

“It freaks me out that you wrote I was the main suspect in the celebrity chef’s death. How would you have known that?”

“Police often make assumptions like that. Anyone that a victim had an altercation with becomes a suspect.”

“But why would you have added that afterwards — before the police even revealed they found some property of mine at the scene? It seems you know a lot more than you are telling.”

“Are you accusing me of something, Boy?”
