Because I am so far behind in these random words and as I am publishing them outside the Fiction Shorts publication, I decided to incorporate two random words and make this a double drabble of exactly 200 words. I included one of the twisters “include an original limerick.”

Charlie obviously knew what he was doing. After a crash course in mountain climbing and safety procedures, it seemed like the wise thing to do was to just follow his instructions.

All went well — at least until about halfway up, when some rocks gave way causing me to lose my footing slide about ten metres back down the mountain.

This was enough for my anxiety to kick in, and I clung prone to the rock face for what seemed like an eternity. Thank God, Charlie remained calm and coaxed me until I managed to gain my composure and continue.

Finally, Charlie exclaimed, “We made it!” As he set foot on the summit, and reached down grabbing my hand and helping me climb up onto the peak.
I sighed in relief, as he clapped me on the shoulder … his way of signifying “well done” without having to say those words.

The sight from the top was incredible, and I turned 360 degrees to survey the ground below and around…
