Day One of a New Medium Era
August 2023 — the Change Has Begun
I recently wrote a poem called ‘One Day of Day One — It’s Up to You’ and, as far as I am concerned, 1st August 2023 will go down as Day One of the New Era of Medium.
I joined Medium back in 2019 but only wrote a couple of articles in the first two years and didn’t join the as a paid member of the Partner Program until two years ago. From that time my monthly income has been slowly increasing after starting at around $5.00 per month and just covering my membership fees to a last month (July 2023) high of $44.87.
I welcomed the new direction and proposed changes that we were told would take effect from the start of August 2023, but I didn’t really know what to expect. Changes at other writing sites I have belonged to were usually designed to make the company more profits, and involved advertising, but that usually didn’t trickle down to the writers.
Well, this time that appears to be a totally different story, and to say I am pleasantly surprised would be an understatement.
I know some successful and highly paid writers here have complained that the changes have resulted in their income dropping, but I have experienced the opposite, as have a lot of those I follow. At time of writing this there is still ten days to go until the end of the month and my earnings…
