Who doesn’t love a garden in flower?

Gardens, flowers and nature have always been very popular subjects for poems and I doubt that will ever change.
Who among us doesn’t love the sight and smell of a garden in full and colourful bloom? If any it would be a tiny minority. Perhaps those without a green thumb or love of gardening would forgo the pleasure in their own surroundings. Still, I doubt even those could honestly admit they were not enchanted passing by a beautifully kept garden (think Monet’s garden at Giverny.)
I have always loved my gardens, though occasionally they become overgrown due to my feeling lazy. At least I manage to keep the flowering beauty alive and restore the neatness over time.
This is just a small collection of poems related to plants, gardens and nature in general.
Though I didn’t write it, I love the final poem (from a Monty Python book) which does a wonderful job of comparing a garden to a poem.

God’s Garden
Stop and listen to the birds
chirping and singing,
celebrating the freedom of flight.
Beautiful coloured feathers
glistening,
spreading to catch the sun.
Ants march busily,
tireless workers gathering food
to feed the colony.
Bountiful,
trees and shrubs abound,
flowering,
cleansing our precious air,
attracting rain
to refresh our parched land.
Small native bees and honey bees
sharing flowers and gathering pollen,
golden honey to produce.
Nature’s Glory —
Welcome to God’s garden.
