But if I was honest, I was not even hiding anymore. Witness protection ended with the death throes of the celebrity chef.
I had decided to stay at the lake hideaway with Charlie and Lucky. But who was I kidding? Everyone knew I was here — there had actually been two attempts on my life. It was starting to take its toll.
It was about time I returned to my “real” life. I’d finished the work on Charlie’s book, and it was ready to be published, so nothing was keeping me here, oh except for Lucky. But speaking of the book —
