I appreciate you writing this, Mel. The current situation at Medium is concerning, especially knowing about the demise of Bubblews and similar sites in the past.

We writers unfortunately are often kept in the dark, instead of being treated like partners or employees of a company who normally/hopefully get some explanation when a business is having problems or making radical changes.

Okay, there was one statement/article by Scott Lamb saying they had suspending suspect accounts and making changes to how writers would be paid so that only legitimate and honest deserving writers would be rewarded in a bid to fight spammers, but then suddenly “everyone’s” (at least the kids I hang out with) earnings tanked from dollars to pennies overnight.

Since then, nothing by management, despite countless articles being written about it, and tickets posted to the team.

We are grown adults, generally we are understanding and can live with things if we are kept in the communication loop as to what is really happening and why we won’t be able to pay a few of our bills next month.

I am still trying to be optimistic, but time will tell. Thanks for writing this.
