I couldn’t agree more. For God’s sake do not keep repeating ads! It turns people off the product or service. It isn’t rocket science for that to be clear. I hate watching sport for instance, and every ad break the same ad runs over and over. I know they are your sponsor, but so f….ing what. They must have more than one product or service to offer, they are just too tight to make more than one ad.
I have read some people say they wish Medium would go the route of paid advertising…well be careful what you wish for. I belong to another writing site that does that…and it the same with TV…but the same ad can be shown a dozen times through an article (depending on the length) and they don’t care if the ads fall in the middle of paragraphs, which makes a story virtually unreadable.
Instead of more ads increasing income it dropped dramatically, because people would no longer stay to read the entire piece. The ad overload drove them away.
