Master Chef Jamie Ramsay was summoned to court for sentencing.

“Would the defendant please stand!” directed the judge.

“Is there anything you would like to say to the court on your behalf?”

“I am innocent of all charges your Honour, he replied defiantly. “I have been framed in an attempt to ruin my life and career.”

“James Andrew Ramsay, after careful consideration of all the evidence provided, a jury of your peers have found you to be guilty of murder in the first degree. I hereby sentence you to life in prison, with a non-parole period of 15 years.”

Most flash fiction is identified as stories under 1000 words. Many short-form publications require you to stay under 150 words. A drabble is a short fiction story of exactly 100 words.

I find drabbles to be an excellent exercise in keeping your writing tight because it forces you to discard any unnecessary words.
