I have the same problem on the phone or iPad. Sometimes if your finger slips off the clap button it returns to zero. I am glad Medium have changed the requirement, though sometime ago I decided to allocate claps according to how much I liked a story or didn’t and how much work I thought the writer put into it. I still can’t give just one though.
So, Clapaholics might be needed.
