I like writing that stands out from the rest in some way. Almost everything has already been written, so you need to find a unique way of expressing whatever you choose to write about.

That said, my attention needs to be captured in the first few paragraphs or stanzas.

I don't like pieces that are too convoluted and I need to read with a thesaurus by my side.
