I loved your article, John. The one by the other writer who has no respect for anyone who says they don't write for money ... well, he is only seeing those writers with tunnel vision, that they are all so well-off that they don't need the money. He doesn't even see that some of us just write for the love of it and that we have to.

I wrote online for about eight years on a site that I only made a maximum of $15 per month, just so I had somewhere to publish my writing, rather than just store it away in journals and notebooks that no one but me would read.

I am not well off in any stretch of the imagination, but I never considered writing as a career, just something I loved to do.

I have since found work as a freelance writer, so did start making money from writing, and I do welcome any money I make from writing - but it isn't the reason I write. As long as I have enough money for a roof over my head, food on my table, and enough to pay my bills I am happy. When you write mainly poetry and short fiction (which I love) you are unlikely to get rich doing it.
