Charlie said, “Jack, you will have the next couple of days to work on my book uninterrupted. I’m going to the city to have a cataract removed.”

“Okay sure, but that’s quite sudden. Will you be able to drive home by yourself, after surgery?” I asked showing concern.

“Of course I will!” he exclaimed, “I have two eyes, and only need one for driving. You just look after Lucky while I’m away. Deal?”

I almost said, “Well, he is my cat! Of course I’ll take care of him, you old sh*t,” but knowing Charlie, he was trying to bait me.

What is a Drabble?

Most flash fiction is identified as stories under 1000 words. Many short-form publications require you to stay under 150 words. A drabble is a short fiction story of exactly 100 words.

I find drabbles to be an excellent exercise in keeping your writing tight because it forces you to discard any unnecessary words.
