I understand the angst. I actually feel embarrassed when I see someone asking for something that is totally different to what is available on the menu. They act so entitled, and I am sure do it deliberately to make things as difficult as possible for the person serving.
I would never even consider ordering something that was different to what was offered. If you choose to eat or drink at that place you select something that is on the menu.
