It’s Your Lucky Day
Two Drabbles for the Price of One
I enjoy writing drabbles, and it is a great challenge to continue the story using a random word for the basis of each chapter. But that said, it is occasionally frustrating to stick to 100 words when I have a lot more I could write.
For this reason, I decided to publish two drabbles at once, using consecutive random words. This way the reader doesn’t have to wait so long for what comes next.
What’s Your Alibi?
Random word 159: “statement”
Charlie had just put the final touches to his manuscript and emailed it to his publisher when my phone rang. He handed it over, and I was surprised to be greeted by the police.
“Jack Hansen?” the caller asked, which I confirmed, so he continued. “It’s Detective Alan Ryan here. I am just informing you of the death of Mr. Jamie Ramsay.
This is just a routine call in that regard, but given your involvement in the trial of the deceased I’d like you to attend the nearest police station and provide a statement of your whereabouts on July 28th.”
