John, I enjoyed your write-up about this poem by Spike Milligan. It has actually been classified as one of the ten most popular nonsense poems of all time.
I agree that often people are too preoccupied with trying to analyses every piece of poetry they read rather than just enjoying it for its flow or sound when read aloud.
I have always been a fan of nonsense poems and limericks. Love to read and write them.
Edward Lear and Shel Silverstein are inspirations, but Spike Milligan can’t be dismissed either.
