Michael, thank you for the explanation and supposed history behind Black Friday. When I first heard about Black Friday Sales in America I didn’t know what it was all about.
Here the term “Black Friday” refers to any Friday 13th. It was also given to an unfortunate event when there were devastating bushfires that killed many people and destroyed homes occurring mainly on that date and now known as “The Black Friday Fires.”
A lot of our companies, especially online stores have jumped on the US bandwagon and advertise Black Friday sales, but it isn’t anything huge and no shopping frenzy involved. The closest we have is our “Boxing Day Sales,” after Christmas.
