Much food for thought again in this article, Nour. It is too easy to play the blame game … and say this generation is this and that, and “back in our day” etc … or, “get with the times, don’t be so old school.” We really have to learn to adapt, no matter what generation we belong to, because we are living in the “now” so we have to do the best we can to survive and thrive in these times.
So much has changed, technologically, socially etc that we just can’t compare generations. The “old days” were different times … some things were better, some worse … so we have to move on. Lessons that need to be learned from the past, will be eventually.
I try to evolve my writing and be as diverse as possible to appeal to all age groups as much as I can. I try to keep abreast of what the younger generation are doing and saying and have both younger and older friends who I can discuss things with.

I write mostly poetry, and although I try to keep it relevant I know that the most popular poets these days are the Instagram poets who only write a few lines (one or two stanzas) accompanied by a simple image or line drawing … on topics love, sex, and relationships. Often repeating a similar scenario over and over with just a slightly different combination of words and images. Young people like to read quickly then scroll to the next item.

Anyway, your advice is very wise. You are a modern day sage.
