Randy, although we have plenty of dangerous creatures here in Australia, I think the hype is somewhat exaggerated. We like to strike fear into people from other countries when in fact we rarely encounter them.

We are conditioned to always watch where we walk in long grass, from an early age, so as not to disturb a sleeping snake etc. and probably subconsciously know how to avoid most other dangerous creatures, so it is something we rarely even think about in our day to day lives.
