Salute and Walk Away
Now wasn’t the time to elaborate
Random word drabble 131: “elaborate”
Charlie had other things against the former celebrity chef. But now wasn’t the time to elaborate.
He’d ordered a steak burger, and chicken fillet burger, but couldn’t eat them both. He considered saving one for breakfast in the morning, but his conscience made him decide otherwise.
A park abutted the motel. Charlie didn’t have to look far to find a vagrant sitting on a park bench. He approached the man and offered him the burger. He nodded in thanks.
The medals pinned to the man’s shabby coat indicated he was a war veteran, so Charley simply saluted and walked away.

My previous drabbles have been published at Fiction Shorts but as of 15th April that publication is no longer hosting drabbles written in serial form. For this reason, I am for now continuing to publish the remaining chapters of this story under my own name. I will however continue to use the random words issued by Nancy Oglesby each day.
