Susie, this is very concerning. On top of everything that has been written about AI recently, and Medium saying they allow high quality AI written articles. They have stated, as you rightly point out though, that AI must be labelled as such and will not be paywalled. In that case it should never be allowed to be nominated for a boost either. It makes me wonder how many AI articles are being boosted.
