I was never a fan of poetry until roughly six years ago. Admittedly, this is because I never gave poetry a chance after only being exposed to poetry I didn’t like. So I understand where people are coming from when they say they don’t like poetry, but I also think they haven’t given it a chance. John Hansen wrote a great article on this topic recently. And that reminded me of a quote from my favorite poetry professor, who was engaged in banter with fiction and nonfiction professors.
