Random word drabble 109: “sweep”
I was trying to sleep. Charlie decided to sweep the floor. At least he wasn’t vacuuming, but I pulled the pillow over my head trying to ignore him.
That’s when Lucky jumped on me. I’m sure they had hatched a plan to force me out of bed, and if Charlie wanted something he always had a way of getting it.
Standing up, I shuffled to the kitchen to make coffee.
“Good morning, Sunshine,” said Charlie, leaning on the broom handle.
“Why are you so chirpy?” I inquired.
“I just heard the news; our friendly celebrity chef was sentenced to life.”

What is a Drabble?
Most flash fiction is identified as stories under 1000 words. Many short-form publications require you to stay under 150 words. A drabble is a short fiction story of exactly 100 words.
I find drabbles to be an excellent exercise in keeping your writing tight because it forces you to discard any unnecessary words.
Drabbles are normally a stand-alone story with a beginning, middle and end, all contained within 100 words. However…
