Why do so many “wannabe” freelancers think they can make money virtually overnight, instead of working diligently to perfect their craft and then do the hard yards to promote it and deliver the best work they can to build a clientele and become successful?

There so so many inquiries on QUORA every day asking these same few questions:

“Why am I not getting any orders?”

“What is wrong with my gig?”

“I am getting lots of impressions and clicks, but no orders. Why?”

“I have been a member at Fiverr for three weeks and still haven’t gotten my first order. What’s wrong?”

“I am an SEO expert and done everything required, why isn’t my gig on the first page of Fiverr?”

Most of these queries come from sellers in just two or three countries in particular (I won’t mention them) and I understand life may be hard and people are desperate to make a living and want to make money as quickly as possible — but I am sorry to say, there are no shortcuts.

Freelancing is a very competitive business, and in many niches, supply is actually higher than the demand to go around. I am a freelance writer, ghost writer and proofreader, living in Australia, and have been selling my services…
