“The quieter you are, the more you hear.”

Some people seem to talk non-stop,
They barely pause for breath.
I’m sure they were babbling at birth,
And will still be at their death.

But I am quiet, as people go,
And rarely go out of my way.
I’ll answer when I’m spoken to
Or have something wise to say.

Though I listen quite intently
For things I need to know.
“The quieter you are, the more you hear,”
Or so the saying goes.

People oft’ forget I’m there
As they just chatter on,
So, I hear many different things.
If I repeat them, I’m anon.

Being quiet’s an attribute
That most don’t acknowledge.
They think you’re just shy and reserved,
The way you were in college.
