The reality of this is unsettling, Mark. You describe your mother's situation all so clearly, but dementia could strike any of us when least expected. I have tried to open the door of an almost identical car as mine before, and wondered why the key wouldn't work. Then I looked closer and saw things inside that didn't belong to me. This was 30 years ago however :)
