The Silly Little Angel
~ or How the Angel Got Her Wings ~
The little angel spread her wings,
Into the Heavens she would sail.
She ran and leapt into the air,
But it was all to no avail.
She flapped and flapped and tried her best
But couldn’t leave the ground.
Flying wasn’t easy,
At least that’s what she found.
She’d seen other angels spread their wings
And ascend into the air.
It seemed like they were weightless,
And didn’t even mess their hair.
She knew she was an angel
And deserved her special wings,
So why was she being grounded
Like ordinary human beings?
So she sent an email up to God,
Asking, “Please give me a lift.
An angel needs the power of flight,
It’s a God given gift.”
God replied, “I gave you all you need.
I sent your wings express.
You have free will and fortitude,
So, angel, do your best.”
