This is a major problem I see with AI. If writers are afraid to change and experiment with different styles of writing, and try to consciously improve there is something wrong. Your writing was different to your usual style but well written and a good read. The AI continuation was more “robotic, flowery, and repetitive” as most AI writing is.

I had one story I wrote at another publication questioned because the editor put it through an AI checker and it came out as “very likely AI written”… wtf … an I had to change a lot of it and resubmit so it sounded less like AI. Thankfully, I write in a lot of different styles anyway so hopefully that makes a difference, but I doubt it. I don’t generally use a lot of fancy flowery adjectives, silly metaphors and puns to describe everything like most AI writing.

Thank you for writing and sharing this experiment and your concerns. My advice, keep writing anyway you damn well want. I have never used an AI checker, and feel I shouldn’t need to.
