This was tough for you, Natalie. Letting your youngest go and giving them full responsibility for themselves is a tough decision, but I am sure Nathan will surprise you.
When he was just 18 my youngest son, Trent, along with his 20 year old brother, Jared, travelled to Darwin 3000km away to do seasonal mango picking to earn some extra money. After four weeks when they were due to return home, my youngest son called and asked our permission to stay there, as he had been offered permanent work, and somewhere to stay. He does make friends very quickly.
That was a hard decision, but because he didn’t have a job at home, my wife and I agreed to let him stay. The older son returned home, and Trent stayed. That was almost 15 years ago and Trent is still there. He is in a happy relationship, has two children and another on the way. Is a qualified fitness, Muay Thai instructor, and security guard, and has just bought a food van to set up his own business with his partner.
Oh, and Trent, was not great at school and has ADHD. We are proud of what he achieved…all on his own. I am sure Nathan will succeed as well if given the opportunity.
