We never know what is lurking behind the door.

…idge, 
more like an air’s breadth,
as if the door was held shut tightly against the united,
mingled
breaths of so many unasked questions
straining in its frame
but now the portal heaves to and fro
its aperture growing with each 
laden breath
each exhalation ripe with stimulating
erogenous
titillating
confusing and maddening
catechisms.

We never know what is lurking behind the door. Yes, this was quite an eerie read, but I liked it. A fitting response to "Gateway" from Jason's popular Weekly Prompt series.
