What a wonderful and important article, Maria. Our house block probably has more trees than almost any other in the town. Many may see it as overgrown, but we love all the shady areas, and have even created seperate microclimates to grow shade loving plants in a generally hot dry area.

Trees are necessary as your article demonstrates, for so many things - to create rainfall, provide habitat, prevent erosion etc. etc.
