What an excellent piece, provoking much food for thought, Jay. When you sit and carefully listen to the lyrics of popular songs it certainly gives a new perspective. I guess the way of thinking and the times they were written in need to be taken into account.
I hate to think what you would find in many of the more recent songs that are so sexually loaded and containing blatant profanity and violent themes.
The “Me Too” movement may have done a fine job in exposing many of these perpetrators (who had come to think they were untouchable) but I think there are a lot worse songs around than “Baby It’s Cold Out There.”
