Who You Gonna Call? .. Ghost-writer!

They call me a ghost-writer,

My words don’t have my name,

Others get the credit,

The plaudits and the fame.

It may seem like I’m crazy

To write for no aplomb,

But, I am paid to do a job,

I’m not exactly dumb.

Some ghost-writers pen memoirs

For the famous and the rich.

A lucrative employment

If that’s your chosen niche.

Sometimes, I may get jealous

Of authors who make sales,

Knowing that I wrote their book

And composed their much-loved tales.

I am not seeking accolades

Or praise for what I do.

I don’t have to format the books,

Or promote them, that is true.

Ghost-writers are sought after,

We are always in demand,

But why we do just what we do

Is hard to understand.

Freelancer all compete for jobs,

Squaring off like fighters,

So tell me, “Who you gonna call?”

The one who’s called “Ghost-writer!”
