Wow! Natalie, I can’t believe how this can be a common question you experience. I don’t think I have ever been asked randomly what my beliefs are. Well, maybe once or twice in my whole life. I would probably say I was brought up Christian, but I am non denominational or not practicing, and believe all religions are equal.
