You make good points here, TzeLin. Up until August this year I only treated Medium as somewhere to publish my writing and generate a few extra dollars of pocket money.

With the spike in August earnings I began to see it differently, as that month I made as much on Medium as I normally make in a week in real life employment. So that was a significant boost. It was about 10 times what I was making before.

I was looking forward to that continuing, so the sudden drop back to pre-August payment levels was disappointing.
